Actor/producer/director George Clooney, Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger, and John Krasinski (The Office) joined the rest of the cast of Leatherheads at the film’s star-studded premiere in Hollywood. Surrounded by the actors who played football players in the movie, Clooney, Zellweger, and Krasinski talked up the screwball comedy set in the 1920s.

The Bank Job Movie, Review, Trailer

The Bank Job starts off a bit choppy with the confusing introduction of its central characters, but quickly tightens up and becomes a thoroughly entertaining caper film with Jason Statham (Transporter, Crank) in the lead. A story so intriguing and bizarre it’s difficult to believe it’s based on true events, The Bank Job is a very British tale of orgies, crooked cops, dedicated MI5 agents, bank robbers, and one very naughty member of the Royal Family.

Directed by Roger Donaldson (The Recruit, World’s Fastest Indian) from a screenplay by Ian Lafrenais and Dick Clement (the team behind Across the Universe and The Commitments), The Bank Job allows the audience an inside peek at an event covered up by those Brits with the power to hush up things that might cause the Royals to get their regal panties in an uproar. Although some of the story may not connect with American audiences (unless you happen to be up on the intricacies of the British police and government), the can of worms opened up by the bank robbers is easy enough to sift through no matter what your nationality.
The Story

It’s 1971 and incredibly high cheek-boned model Martine Love (Saffron Burrows) is stopped at the airport and arrested for smuggling drugs. Terry Leather (Jason Statham) is having problems keeping his car dealership afloat. Martine solves both their problems by telling Terry about a bank that’s about to undergo a change in its security system, leaving a very small window of opportunity to break into the safe deposit vault and wipe out the vault’s contents. Terry, a bit down on his luck and with a wife and child to care for, decides to go for it.

“Vantage Point” (2008)
Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox), are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide. In the crowd is Howard Lewis, an American tourist video-taping the historic event to show his kids when he returns home. Also there is Rex, an American TV news producer who is reporting on the conference. It’s only as we follow each person’s perspective of the same 15 minutes prior to and immediately after the shooting that the terrifying truth behind the assassination attempt is revealed.

Jack Black responded to the “Be Kind Rewind” script because of the relationship between the two friends. “This idea was interesting to me because it was saying, ‘Hey! These two guys, these two friends in this kind of rundown neighborhood get creative and find a way to escape their own dull existence.’”
Writer/Director Michel Gondry Discusses “Be Kind Rewind”
Writer/director Gondry was fascinated with the idea of a couple of best friends thinking their only option once they erased these movies was to reshoot them. “I was very excited about these characters who are so wrapped into their minds that they really think this character, played by Mia (Farrow) is so off everything that’s happening that she would be confused by it.”
